SESSION CALLS FOR PRESERVING HIS PIONEERING WORK
To pay rich tribute to the services of Khawaja Najam ul Hassan, the session titled ‘Tryst with Music: Celebrating the Life and Works of Khawaja Najam ul Hassan’, moderated by Sheraz Haider, was held on the second day of SLF’20 on March 12 at Noon Auditorium.
Khawaja Najam ul Hassan is one of the pioneers of television, star maker, talented producer and director PTV has ever produced. He has been bestowed with many awards including best TV producer for Moods and Melodies in Singapore and Pride of Performance.
The insightful talk shed light on his contribution for producing legends in the music industry of Pakistan and his work with Malka Pukhraj, Roshan Ara Begum, Iqbal Bano, Mehdi Hassan, Farida Khanum and Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
He produced unforgettable dramas and musical shows for PTV including Taansen, Tal Matol, Dastan Go, Taranum series with Melody Queen Noorjehan, Sur Ka Safar with Malika Pukhraj and Tahira Syed and wedding songs with Mussarat Nazeer.
- The pioneering work of the living legend should be documented and preserved for the future generations to come.
- As pop music is replaced with classical music, in order to revive the traditional culture of ghazal, classical music should be promoted.
- For the revival of music industry in Pakistan, music academies should be opened and professionals should give training to the youngsters.
